Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What kind of person makes a good Cancer Center volunteer?
A. Many of our volunteers have been touched personally by cancer, but that is not a requirement to join our efforts. Anyone with a keen interest in helping is encouraged to volunteer. To create a successful volunteer experience, we work hard to match your skills and interests with the right opportunity.
Q. How much time is required of volunteers?
A. Volunteers are asked for a six month commitment. On average, most contribute three to four hours each week to service. However, in some cases one-time projects may be available for individuals or groups. We invite you to inquire with the Volunteer Program Coordinator to determine which activity best suits you or your group.
Q. Do Cancer Center volunteers register with Michigan Medicine Volunteer Services?
A. Yes, as with all Michigan Medicine volunteers, Cancer Center volunteers process through Michigan Medicine Volunteer Services. However, you are welcome to contact the CC Volunteer Program Coordinator to determine current CC openings.
Q. Is parking provided for volunteers?
A. Yes, free parking is one of the many benefits of volunteering.
