Kathleen Ann Cooney, MD
BiographyDr. Kathleen Cooney received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. She received her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and then moved on to the University of Michigan where she completed residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology/oncology. Dr. Cooney joined the U-M faculty in 1991, where her clinical interests are primarily in the medical management of prostate and bladder cancers. Dr. Cooney's research focuses on the identification of genetic defects in sporadic and hereditary forms of prostate cancer. She has established a clinical database to study the inheritance pattern of prostate cancer that has provided an infrastructure for hereditary prostate cancer research at the University of Michigan.
