Fengming Phoenix Kong, MD
BiographyDr. Feng-Ming (Spring) Kong completed medical school and a doctoral program at Fudan University, in Shanghai, followed by a post-doctorate fellowship in translational scientific research at Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, N.C. She then received clinical training in radiation oncology at Washington University in St. Louis and was certified by the American Board of Radiology in radiation oncology. In 2003, Dr. Kong joined the faculty of the University of Michigan, where she currently coordinates lung research studies in the Department of Radiation Oncology with an emphasis on functional image-guided, individualized high-dose radiation therapy.
Dr. Kong's research interests include designing and conducting clinical trials to improve treatment results for lung cancer patients and testing molecular biomarkers in patients' blood for radiation induced lung toxicity. She is currently participating in a clinical trial design and data analysis program through the U-M School of Public Health. Dr. Kong's clinical interests include radiation therapy and the care of treatment-related toxicities in lung cancer patients as well as patients with other thoracic malignancies.
